Best way to use Knowem

Hey There,

I know we discussed using Knowem to obtain logins to a number of different sites. My notes are alluding me.

Is it best to procure our domain site (i.e. reflectmylife), or better to procure search terms that are relative to our content? (i.e. inspiration, affirmations)?

inspiration is less available and in google has 2,740,000 global monthly searches. affirmations is more available and in google has 301,000 global monthly searches.

does it make sense to procure inspiration where we can and affirmations as well? Or should we remain consistent??

THANKS!

Is this a good question?

I try to use my business as the account name, but do use descriptive and meaningful keywords in the "bio" and other fields that get shown on the page. I might also put some keywords in the first name / last name if I can make it work naturally since those are pretty prominent on the profile pages. Most importantly if you can get your keywords in the anchor text of the link back to your site. Those will matter the most. Some sites will let you customize the site and some will show the url as the anchor text. One trick I've used to get around this is to buy a domain I use for link building that has keywords in the url and just redirects to my site. http://inspiration-and-affirmations.info/ or something like that. I'm not sure if this really helps, but I've had good luck with it on some sites.

The purpose of knowem is to reserve your brandname on all these sites, but many of these links do count for seo, so you have to walk a fine so that it doesn't come off as too spammy.

Thanks Matt. This is helpful, just a few clarifying questions if you don't mind!

  1. Can you give us an example of what your "Anchor Text" is? i.e is it thecamcordereview, camcorder, etc? We are a bit confused as to what we should be searching for availability in knowem.

  2. How many do you typically register (per day/per week/etc) for at one time before becoming to "spammy"?

  3. On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the effectiveness of this task? Did you see a significant impact in your traffic?

THANKS SO SO MUCH! Caroline

Here is more information about anchor text. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchor_text . I can't remember what I did for camcorder, but if I were choosing now, I'd put "camcorder review", "camcorder reviews", "video camera reviews", "video camera review". I register once per site, with an account name that matches my brand (assuming it fits in the length of the field). I think it's very effective. I had a coming soon site with 2 lines of text that was ranking on the second page of google for one experiment. All I had done was register at knowem, and put up the coming soon site.
