What is your favorite web hosting company?

I have several websites that are currently hosted in my husband's dreamhost account but I'd like to get my own hosting. I've heard of PowWeb, Go Daddy, and Dreamhost but don't know which one is optimal. Any advice or other recommendations would be great!

We use Dreamhost, but I hear a lot of great things about HostGator.com

If you like cPanel, I would definately try HostGator.

For anyone that doesn't know what cPanel is, it's the software that gives you access to your domains/websites hosted with a hosting company. It's a 3rd party piece of software that many web hosters run.

Here's the link for cpanel http://www.cpanel.net/ ... again, many web hosts run this software. It's not something you pay for directly (though your base hosting fees might be higher because of it).

Blue Host!

CPanel Admin, Reliable, Great customer service

They've recently been bought by Endurance International, fwiw. We'll see if their quality holds up. But I wouldn't count on it.

Studiocoast is our default. It allows hosting of SQL Server databases and is quite easy to maintain. and they have been responsive the few times issues do arise.

Im currently with http://byethost.com. I was initially on their free hosting plan but I was having some issues with some of my websites backend functionality so I decided to "byte" the bullet and go for premium hosting. it starts at something like $2.99 PM for a basic package whch gives you unlimited storage and 250GB of bandwidth per month with lots of extras. The ultimate package has unlimited storage and bandwith usage for $6.99 PM with lots of extras also. Heres a link to the price plans if your interested. http://byethost.com/index.php/paid-hosting

All of the plans come with cpanel included which makes the whole process easier to use and probably less daunting to people just starting out. They also come with fantastico which has scripts to install popular Content management systems like drupal, joomla and wordpress along with others. All you have to do is click!

Another thing I love about this host is the fact that you dont have to pay an upfront annual fee,You just pay per month and they also accept paypal which is great. I havent come accross many host providers that will let you pay on a month by month basis from the start.

I am using <a href= "http://www.sitesell.com/Hugo9.html">SBI</a> It's a little pricier than other services out there but it's especially made for beginners or people who have tried making a website and never succeeded at having traffic. They basically offer a course on how to build a website, offer a series of tools to research, optimize SEO, and integrate other services in your website. What's really grate about it though is the Forums. Everyday, you get more than 1000 posts by users on many subject and if you have a question, there is always an experienced user to ready to help you.

I have tried Blogger or hosting my own site with other providers but my site have no traffic whatsoever. My SBI sites do.

I don't recommend hosting your site with Godaddy - I've had bad experience in the past. Great site to purchase a domain name but not to host it.

Bluehost is pretty reliable.

I agree Paul, I switched from GoDaddy to BlueHost and have been very happy. My main issue with GoDaddy is their complex portal. Since BlueHost uses the cPanel, its much easier.

Check out KVCHosting.com. Solid hosting and very good pricing. Agree with PaulRockstar on Godaddy--skip it.
