Other useful podcasts?

I think that AMSB is one of the best (if not THE best) podcast out there. However, I wonder what other ones people are listening to? I like Marketing Over Coffee (John Wall / Christopher Penn), Duct Tape Marketing, a lot of the ones on webmaster radio (especially Landing Page Optimization and PPC Rockstars) and sometimes Internet Business Mastery. Any others that I should be listening to?

Is this a good question?

There are three things that I look for in a good podcast - useful content, motivation, and a certain degree of sound quality. I feel useful content is the most important, but I tend to require constant motivation to keep going and I hate hearing dogs and kids in the background or bad sound quality, especially from radio shows.

Here are my favorites so far:

1) AMSB (Obviously) - I haven't found any other podcast to pack so much useful information in each episode. It's like taking the 4-Hour Work Week and adding a bunch of chapters. Timothy Ferriss should hire these guys to write the 4-Hour Work Week 2. Of course the actual writing and publishing would be outsourced, and that's the point. Unfortunately I'm far from automating anything yet, but that will come in time.

2) Help! My Business Sucks with Andrew Lock - Aside from being entertaining (I like his virtual tv studio), he has lots of great internet business tips and tons of useful web site links. Become a free member and you get a DVD of a live conference he did where he goes through more cool websites. Of course the really good stuff you have to pay for like Niftyclicks.com, but it's not too expensive. Some of his other stuff is really expensive.

3) Entrepreneurs-Journey with Yaro Stark - An Aussie with by far the best video and audio interviews of internet business gurus. Very motivational and will definitely spark new ideas. Be sure to listen to all of the older podcasts.

4) Small Business Big Marketing with Tim and Luke - A couple of Aussie's that have some good interviews of experienced Internet Business people. These guys are fun to listen to and they have some good content.

5) Smart Passive Income.com with Pat Flynn - Although he is currently working on a podcast, his story has been one of my biggest inspirations. He wrote this eBook and made a nice chunk of change. What I really like is that each month he breaks down his earnings for all to see. I feel that many of these success stories are 80% luck and timing. What I find really interesting is to watch these guys try to find their next pot of gold. Most of them tend to end up trying to sell their 'magic formula for success'.

5) Small Business on the Web with John Jantsch - A good internet business marketing site covering lots of good topics. Give it a try.

6) Internet Business Mastery with John and Jay - I added this one because the first 20-30 podcasts have some really good marketing concepts. Then I quickly got tired of them trying to sell me stuff. Once they figured out you can make good money from listeners trying to get into the internet biz, they have become pretty relentless. For a good laugh, watch the sales pitch video on the beach where they pass around the collar microphone - come on guys.

@ Wayne thanks for the suggestions I'll check them out. Couldn't agree with you more about Internet Business Mastery... sometimes it's like an infomercial (GETreplacemyself.com?). I still listen because there is an occasional nugget or two of meat. Got to hand it to them for making some money though!

IBM is great for motivation, I agree that their latest episodes are pretty thin on content though

  • TED Talks
  • Stanford Technology Ventures Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders
  • Six Pixels of Separation
  • EconTalk
  • Ignite
  • IT Conversations -- This used to be an amazing podcast of speeches from tech conferences, but has turned into an aggregation of a few shows with a couple speeches mixed in.
  • I agree with the Webmaster Radio recommendations, though I'd also call out SEO 101.
  • Startup Daddy - Was really cool but I think he decided to discontinue/go a different direction.

One of my favorites is CoachRadio.TV This guy aspired his whole life to be an airline pilot, hit the peak of the career and realized it was massively unfulfilling and completely recreated himself and launched a personal finance and small business coaching practice and is now mentoring other coaches. Very inspirational.

I also like C.C. Chapman out of Boston

Truly some great ones listed here so far. I hadn't heard the Stanford Univ. podcast and have really enjoyed that so far. I wanted to add another one, Nicole Dean's Success Casts at www.nicoleonthenet.com. She does something unique to her podcast in that she always bases the interviews on the same set of questions with each guest. I've found that really enjoyable to see how different gurus respond to the exact same scenario. Still, though, AMSB rules above them all. :-)

Smart Passive Income by Pat Flynn is good, though I think it'd be a bit difficult to replicate the success he's had from his main product (the LEED certification test training materials). He found a great niche that required expertise (which he already had), and where customers were willing to pay for that expertise. Not replicatable for everyone, but his income numbers and other endeavors are great inspiration.

One I don't see here is "Start ups for the rest of us". It is oriented towards software startups, but a lot of the advice they give can be applied broadly to most automated businesses.

I like "startups for the rest of us", I think they're very similar to us, so if you like amsb you'll probably like them (even if you're not in software)

Thank you for these awesome recommendations.

Shameless self-promotion...

I just launched a podcast. Initially it will be the audio extracts from my Business Jolt TV shows. Shortly, it will include interviews with small business owners in order to get an on-the-ground view of operations.

I talk about passion, simplicity and creativity. If you're interested please check it out (RSS/iTunes).

Your feedback is welcome and appreciated.
