Best way to use an autoresponder to deliver digital content?
Sorry, I had a hard time phrasing that question in the headline, but my question is, what tool do you recommend so that I can offer an exciting digital download in return for newsletter signup?
Example: MySite: "Signup for our sexy newsletter and get a free sexy report about free sexy newsletters!" User-1: Clicks MySite: "Please enter your name and email address to signup for my sexy newsletter" MySite: "Thank you for signing up for my sexy newsletter, please click the link below to receive your free sexy report" User-1: Receives confirmation email to dbl opt-in

The best free tool I discovered was MailChimp. It allowed me to create the signup form, add it to my WP blog via the MailChimp widget. It created several pages and emails to automate the process:
Signup form
Signup Thank You page
Opt-in Confirmation email
Confirmation Thank You page
Final Welcome email
There may be other ways such as with Aweber, Constant Contact, iContact or others, but MailChimp was free and worked perfectly.
I agree with Scott, MailChimp is a great tool and offers lots of add-ins. Be sure to use the Temple Zone HTML editor - makes it alot easier to get the layout correct
