Volusion Problem: Customers using IE8 cannot complete transaction to checkout.

Is there anyone else out there who knows for sure that people using Internet Explorer 8 is able to check out. I recently started with Volusion and built the site and as soon as it was live, I went through the checkout process using Chrome, Firefox, Safari and IE8. Unfortunately when I used IE8 it did not move past the "add item to cart" portion to the actual check out. I've placed a trouble ticket and I suggest that people also do a similar test to see if that happens as well.

If you do place a trouble ticket to Volusion, please post your experience or reply to me. I've been pleased with Volusion but this is a major issue and I would like to know if anyone else is having the same issues.

Sincerely, Ted ted@availco.com

I have had fairly good results by using the Support Chat feature with Volusion. Just click on Chat from the support page, and you can usually get someone within a few minutes. They should be able to answer your question if it relates to IE8 not being support correctly.

Obviously this would be a BIG deal if that was true. So I'm guessing you might have a unique problem with your site. I use a web design company called Border 7. The owner of the company used to work for Volusion. Her name is Amy. Not only does she know Volusion inside and out, she has "friends" inside Volusion that gives her the straight scoop if their is a bug that hasn't been announced. She helped me out tremendously last month when she learned of a bug in the recurring billing section of Volusion. She even convinced her Volusion developer friends to push the fix up on the priority list. Its nice to have that sort of pull.

I'll try to get her to post her answer on here. But you can also contact her directly. Tell her Brandon sent you. She'll help you out.

Hi Ted,

This is Amy from Brandon's web team. Could you please let me know the URL for your store and I'd like to run a few tests myself to find out if its an isolated issue or something going on with the Volusion software. Thanks!

Ted,

Just did a few tests on our client's stores. All of them went through without any problems so it might be something specific with your store as far as the template or settings. I know that Volusion added a feature with their w09 system that does a "soft add to cart" and instead just adds the item to the cart but leaves you on the current page. Usually a little pop up image will come up when this setting is enabled. Is this what you were experiencing?

Hello Amy, Thank you so much for checking your assistance! Our website is shop.availco.com

If you need admin access to better diagnose I would be happy to add a user.

We are a startup apparel business, we’ve been making custom dresses for over 5 years, but this is our startup for internet presence and expanded product offering. I am very new at building anything on the web. I’ve actually just built my first website ever this winter and my first wordpress site last month. This is obviously my first shopping cart experience. So I understand I may have messed things up.

Best regards, and many thanks

Ted

Hey Ted,

All right, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the special thing you have going on with the options. I'm not sure how you set that up (it's totally cool though!) but its fraternizing with the Volusion code so the item is never actually added to the cart. I see it works in Chrome and Firefox, so you may need to speak with whomever wrote it for you and let them know that it needs to be fixed so that it functions in ie8 as well.

Hey Ted,

So my team looked into the issue further and it appears your site is in an iFrame and that's what's causing it to do that. If you remove the iFrame then it will work with ie8. Hope that helps!

Thanks Amy for everything, The big problem is that I do not know enough to remove the iFrame. I've been Googling it and I cannot figure out. I'm sure this is something you can help us out with. Volusion's live chat is off, otherwise I would have asked them.

You can contact me directly at ted@availco.com

I will try contacting you at your company.

Thank you again.

Ted
