Switching from Blogspot to Wordpress
First off, I want to say that I thoroughly am impressed and enjoy the podcast and website.
I enjoyed the podcast on Wordpress and I wanted to run a question by the community. I currently use Blogspot, if I switch my blog to Wordpress, will my history of blogs follow over? I know with some of the blog directories, they will not list your blog unless you have been blogging for a certain period of time, and I would hate to hinder my ability to be listed in as many blog directories as possible.
I am not a tech expert so hopefully my question doesn't seem to ignorant.
Thanks

It's tough to switch off of sites like blog spot. They don't make it easy. Ideally you'd want to redirect all your traffic to your new site using a 301 redirect, but blogspot doesn't let you do that, so you're left with less than ideal solutions. One technique I have used to move off of those types of sites is to leave the first paragraph of my posts on blogspot and repost the full article in my wordpress site. After the first paragraph on blogspot I put a link to the new article. When you post on wordpress, you can set the post date manually, so you can put the original dates on your posts. Hopefully, eventually google will recognize that your new site has the real content.
Good luck with your move, and remember to use a self-hosted site using wordpress, and not wordpress.com's hosted blogs.
thanks, that is very helpful! I can't recommend this site to enough people!
