Content???

I've been catching up with your podcasts for a bit and love them.

I have a little local seafood business in Gods Own that's focused on quality high end products that I'm dying to be able to develop into an online business.

I really like the idea of using Odesk for things like content but struggle to understand how somebody outside of my business could have the appreciation and depth of understanding required to competently write about my business and offering?

Is this a good question?

No one is ever going to be as knowledgeable or passionate about your business as you are.

From your description, it sounds like your passion about the quality of your product is a core differentiator between you and your competition. Creating content that communicates that passion and up to date information about what's fresh will be great for your business. Maybe that "blog" is something that you have to write, but there is probably some other "informational" stuff that you can find people to write.

That said, you're not the only one who is passionate about seafood :) You can always look for people with knowledge about seafood. When I hired writers, I try to look for people who are passionate about electronics. Also there is a wealth of content on the internet written by people who are also passionate about seafood. Someone who is a good researcher could write content leveraging those assets.

I had an SEO company in India do some writing for me and it was a joke. they were talking about drumsticks like they had never seen one before. It was a joke. Very funny to read though! Your writing can be about other things as long as it is related to seafood.

I would write it myself. People are going to connect with YOU. that is what you are selling: YOU.

Yeah, I've pretty much concluded that getting content written that is meaningful and relevant is very difficult and even more so when they are also trying, in part, assimilate pitch & tone. The key has been to create the time and opportunity to write.

Hopefully, the right person or people is out there to write content but its not very straight forward. I've been looking at blogs and forums around food and specifically seafood to find someone I think might be good at writing copy and this looks promising.

I would offer to help write for free in exchange for a letter of recommendation. I am currently a content writer on multiple blogs, my main one being www.hcgtrainer.com and would be able to speak with you over the phone to help gain knowledge about you so that your passion and vision shine through in your content.
