I would suspect that with GoDaddy's $11 PA deal you get limited features such as low bandwidth, low disk space, limited amount of email addresses, additional domains and sub domains. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it all depends on what you intend to use the site for. If its just a portfolio site then a package like go-daddy's is perfect however if you expect a tonne of traffic and have alot of emebedded video's or image galleries then bandwidth and disk-space limitations become and issue. I use byethost for my sites and I can safely say I've had absolutely no issues whatsoever since I began using their hosting service in September of last year. I'm signed up to their unlimited plan which gives me unlimited EVERYTHING (add on domains, sub domains, email addresses, bandwidth, and disk space) for $6.99 per month. Their standard plan is pretty decent as well for $2.99 PM. You can find more details on the packages here (http://byethost.com/index.php/paid-hosting)

Best of luck with whoever you host with and I hope your site is a success.

I used GoDaddy in their early days but decided not to this time. The issue I saw with GoDaddy is the feedback for them across the web. Check out http://www.nodaddy.com for an example. I wound up going with HostGator for my new site: http://www.reportmode.com

Also, once you decide on your hoster, check out http://www.retailmenot.com for promotion codes. I also got my first month on HostGator for free with a code from there.

I also registered my domain with Gandi.net after doing some research. They included domain masking and they haven't spammed me nearly as much as Network Solutions and other have.
