Tips for an affiliate program on wordpress?

Recently had a nice PR win. My business "Butterfly Repellent" was recently featured on Tim Ferriss' blog (i gave a shout out to amsb). Since being featured, I've had a number of people inquire about affiliate sales.

I am trying to set up a program for affiliates as quickly as possible to meet demand. From the podcast I believe Brandon uses volusion's built in software to manage his affiliates.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience doing this on wordpress, or maybe another good software for running affiliate sales.

Is this a good question?

Don't have an answer to your question however I actually learned about this series because of your post on Tim's blog - So thanks!. I would be very interested to hear more about your experience as I am trying to discover my muse and get it off the ground.

Thanks Julian! We appreciate the mention. We got a nice traffic spike from it.

Post Affiliate Pro is kind of the gold standard for running your own affiliate program. There seems to be several plugins by 3rd parties for integrating it with wordpress, but I haven't tried them. What shopping cart are you using? Usually your choice of shopping carts dictates what you get to use for affiliate software.

Congratulations! I read that post on Tim Ferriss' blog, and saw the mention of AMSB, which I recommend to everyone. :-)

It depends on what shopping cart you are using. We do a lot of affiliate marketing on my blog network and we ultimately went with Ultracart because we needed a shopping cart and an affiliate program. I have been very pleased with Ultracart which is a hosted shopping cart + affiliate program, and it integrates with aMember which we are using for subscription sites.

I don't recommend iDevAffiliate -- I have had bad experiences with them.
