Can anyone help with ideas for the upcoming launch of two new websites?
Hello- I have two new website projects I am working on and am looking for advice on ways to find my target audience and get the word out. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated!
First, is a site offering a software solution (going live in a few weeks - www.eroutingguide.com) and I am looking for advice and resources to help with the launch. The solution is logistics/ transportation related and targeted to shipping managers. I am having trouble finding many organized online communities to become part of with my social media efforts. Any tips for launching a software as a service product?
I also have a fulfillment business that is about to lauch a new site (www.fillship.com) with a specialized service focused on small and medium size ecommerce retailers (think of an east coast only Shipwire, but also with an emphasis on food products). Are there any communities or resources you can recommend in that space that would be helpful to bringing brand awareness to the service?

I think the first step would be to get your real marketing website up, and start collecting emails using something like mailchimp, aweber, etc. I think too many people focus on finishing the software before throwing up the marketing site. Your site can be collecting future customers for you while you finish the code. It doesn't have to be anything fancy.
For example, I'm launching this forum software next month, but I'm already up and collecting emails so I'll be loaded for launch. It also gives google time to find you before your launch. If you have time to do it, a blog about what you're developing is also great.
For fillship, I think that you're going to get customers by integrating into shopping carts. That's the way I discovered Shipwire. I have no clue which shopping carts dominate in marketshare. I'd look at the ones Shipwire integrates with and start from there. If you're trying to get fulfillment centers as customers, you're probably going to have to call them, but you might be able to do some ppc for your shopping cart customers.
Most importantly, look at your potential competitors... what keywords do they buy on google? Where are they getting organic links from? That's a great place to start.
Another tool you might want to try to use is Google AdPlanner. You can find sites visited by people with specific demographics and interests, have visited certain sites (like your competitors), and search for certain keywords.
