A facebook fanpage vs a facebook profile vs buddypress/wordpress

I have a band management services company that I am wanting to use facebook to get a community going and have people invited to events / workshops.

I have setup a facebook page for the business joined to my personal facebook profile. I am now trying to work out how to send events and it looks like I can only send them to my personal friends this is not appropriate. It doesn't look like you can do much with "fans" on facebook.

Am I wrong?

Should I setup a profile for this business?

Should I give up with facebook and just create a community site using wordpress and buddypress

Facebook is driving me mad. Any advice would be very much appreciated!!

Paul

Wow, I had no idea it was so hard to create events. I found this link "How to create events in the new Facebook fan page". Not sure if that helps. I didn't have that much success setting up buddy press the one time I tried. Plus you have the barrier of people having to setup new profiles. Facebook is easier for your customers, even if it's harder for you.

Thanks for the feedback although my problem is not actually setting up events. It is working with fans of the page. I can only seem to invite my personal friends to events for my record company. My personal friends are not the same audience and therefore it is not really working. (unless there is a way of inviting fans to events that I haven't worked out)

I am thinking If i use facebook then I really should use a different profile for my Management company. Any thoughts
